Cantab® 16 mg
NobelCantab® 16 mg contains Candesartan cilexetil, a prodrug that is converted to the active substance candesartan after oral administration. It selectively blocks the angiotensin II AT1 receptor, causing vasodilation, reducing peripheral vascular resistance, lowering blood pressure, and improving cardiac function in patients with heart failure. It offers sustained 24-hour blood pressure control and can be taken with or without food.
Ingredients
Active ingredient: Candesartan cilexetil 16 mg per tablet. Excipients: Lactose monohydrate, maize starch, croscarmellose calcium, hydroxypropyl cellulose, macrogol, magnesium stearate, and red iron oxide (E172).
Indications
Indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults, hypertension in children and adolescents aged 6 to <18 years, and heart failure in adults with impaired left ventricular systolic function (LVEF ≤40%), as add-on therapy to ACE inhibitors or when ACE inhibitors are not tolerated.
Precautions
Use with caution in patients with renal impairment, hepatic impairment, heart failure, volume depletion, renal artery stenosis, or hyperkalaemia. Monitor renal function and serum potassium during treatment. Avoid use during pregnancy (especially the second and third trimesters) and breastfeeding. Caution is advised when driving or operating machinery due to possible dizziness or fatigue.
