VOMEPRAM contains metoclopramide hydrochloride, a dopamine (D2) receptor antagonist that acts centrally by inhibiting the chemoreceptor trigger zone (CTZ) to prevent nausea and vomiting. It also enhances upper gastrointestinal motility by increasing gastric emptying and promoting coordinated gastric and intestinal contractions without stimulating gastric acid secretion. It is administered by intravenous (IV) or intramuscular (IM) injection and is commonly used to manage postoperative nausea and vomiting, chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (in combination with other agents), migraine-associated nausea, and delayed gastric emptying (gastroparesis).
