CANDISPET 200 mg/100 mL (Fluconazole IV Infusion)
VemCANDISPET contains fluconazole, a triazole antifungal agent that inhibits fungal cytochrome P450-dependent enzymes, preventing the synthesis of ergosterol, an essential component of the fungal cell membrane. This disruption inhibits fungal growth and replication. It is administered by intravenous infusion for the treatment of serious systemic fungal infections, including candidemia, invasive candidiasis, cryptococcal meningitis, and other susceptible fungal infections. It is also used for prophylaxis of fungal infections in immunocompromised patients, such as those undergoing chemotherapy or bone marrow transplantation.
Ingredients
Active Ingredient (per 100 mL) Fluconazole – 200 mg (2 mg/mL) Excipients Sodium chloride Water for injection
Indications
CANDISPET is indicated for: Candidemia and invasive candidiasis. Cryptococcal meningitis and other cryptococcal infections. Oropharyngeal and esophageal candidiasis. Urinary tract, peritoneal, and pulmonary Candida infections caused by susceptible organisms. Prevention of fungal infections in immunocompromised patients, including those receiving chemotherapy or bone marrow transplantation.
Precautions
For intravenous infusion only; administer at a maximum recommended infusion rate of 200 mg/hour. Use with caution in patients with hepatic or renal impairment; dose adjustment may be required in renal dysfunction. Monitor liver function, renal function, and electrolytes during prolonged therapy. Fluconazole may interact with medications such as warfarin, phenytoin, cyclosporine, tacrolimus, sulfonylureas, and certain QT-prolonging drugs. Use cautiously in patients with a history of cardiac arrhythmias or electrolyte abnormalities due to the risk of QT prolongation. Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding only when the potential benefit justifies the potential risk. Discontinue treatment if severe hypersensitivity reactions or significant liver toxicity occur.
